Zoe Hernandez: Student and Consumer Advocate
Being born with no limbs has not stopped Zoe Hernandez from making the most of life!
Originally from Puerto Rico, Zoe lives in Meriden, Connecticut. She relies on her Quantum® Edge 3 Power Wheelchair with iLevel® to get around. With her power chair, Zoe has greater independence.
“My power wheelchair gives me so much independence and I am given the opportunity to use advanced technology,” Zoe said.
With the innovative technology on the Edge 3, it’s easy for Zoe to use a tablet for her schoolwork or make phone calls to her friends and family.
In the face of adversity, Zoe has graduated high school and is currently attending college. In between her school assignments, Zoe serves as a Quantum consumer advocate. She enjoys attending Abilities Expos and speaking with people about her experiences.
“I meet people who are disabled just like me and I share with them how they can be independent. I can show people that even though I am disabled, I can do things if I set my mind and heart to it,” Zoe said.
Zoe is close with her family, and she gets her inspiration from her mother. She is always ready and willing to try new things. In the future, Zoe hopes to work in a community with people who are just like her.
“I’ve come so far in my life, and no one thought I would,” Zoe said.
