Jay Smith: A Voice for the ALS Community

Jay's Story

In 2014, Jay Smith was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. His condition, however, hasn’t kept Jay from being a voice for the ALS community.

Jay resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, and two daughters. To stay active and keep up with kids, Jay uses his Quantum® Q6 Edge® 2.0 with iLevel®. He enjoys the many social benefits that iLevel Power Adjustable Seat Height offers.

“iLevel allows me to be at eye level with everyone again,” Jay said. “No more neck cramps from looking up, but more importantly, I am now back to bar height!”

Following his ALS diagnosis, Jay founded Every 90 Minutes, an organization dedicated to providing support to ALS patients and finding a cure. Every 90 Minutes has developed partnerships with other organizations to develop ground-breaking technologies to help ALS patients.

In 2018, Suburban Life Magazine named Jay as one of the “Men of the Year” alongside big names such as actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. A pillar for the ALS community, Jay is a brilliant writer and is extremely active on social media, sharing his stories and experiences with nearly 30,000 followers on Facebook
